Last Day at Work

Today's my last day at work in Company J. Felt as if I just joined the company not too long ago, but it has been about one and a half years already. How time flies.

Tomorrow is a public holiday, so I will be resuming work on Friday in the new company. I was telling my colleague jokingly just now that I hope I don't drive to Company J for work on Friday when I'm supposed to be reporting to work in Company C... LOL

Just now I went over to an ice cream specialty shop branch near my place to have some ice cream. They are having a promo for buy 1 free 1 if you cut out a newspaper cutting. And it so happens that today is the 31st of the month, so they have another promotion as well. The place was so jam packed with people that you'd wonder if they are giving out free ice cream or what? After some time lining up, finally managed to have a staff carry out our orders. I think they really need to be more well organized on days like this.

The first time I've heard of this song was in the movie "Conspiracy Theory by" Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts. I liked it so much that I went looking for more information about the song.

Quoting Wikipedia:

"Can't Take My Eyes Off You" was a 1967 single by Frankie Valli. The song was among Valli's biggest hits, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning a gold record.

There are many versions of the song being recorded by various artists, including Lauryn Hill's version which was featured in "Conspiracy Theory". Of course, it was also made famous by the Carlsberg beer ad which people use the beer bottle to blow the tune. Very cute ad indeed.

单身派对

昨天我和两个好友到 1U 的 Jetty area 去参与一个单身派对。这可是我第一次参加这一类派对。

说真的，我根本不知道 1U 有一个这么样的地方，气氛还蛮不错的。但美中不足的是整个派对的节目安排都不太理想，很多冷场，令很多人中场离席。

我也没什么收获，只不过玩了个无聊的游戏，拿到个杯子。不过，有机会的话，我还会回到这儿来，因为我还蛮喜欢这儿的气氛。

I was honored to be invited to a meet up with that pink pink Pink Cotton today together with some members of the liu liu gang. So in order to avoid jam (Wong Ah Wah wor... KL wor... I got a bit traffic jam phobia) I left office at about 4:30pm. You know la, I'm now counting down to my new job, so I pretty much have nothing to do in the office anyways.

By the time I arrived and parked my car, it was around 5-ish only. Seeing that I'm still early, I went for a stroll in Lowyat Plaza. I browsed thru some cameras, check on some hardware prices, and then went up to the AllIT. Found a nice and cozy corner at the projector demo room and sat down to watch some movie previews that they were showing.

When I checked the time again, it's 7pm, so I made a call to Angel, and seems like they are still on the way. So I walked back over to Lowyat again to waste some time. :P

Finally at about 8pm, I received a call that they have arrived at WAW. So I adjourned over there. Found that Nyonya, Sengkor, Winn, Angel, Zero, and PC is already there. After a while, May and Kenny arrived almost at the same time. And later Monkticon appears too.

Food we've consumed includes siew kai yik (chicken wings, how can you miss the chicken wings when you come here? :P), fried noodles with pork, singaporean fried mee hoon, lala (clams), some belacan vege, and hokkien mee.

After makan, as usual we talked and talked about stuffs. PC took out some pepper sweets and bee pang (rice crisp biscuit) to share with us. After a while, JL dropped by and brought us some mua chi (omochi or glutinous dumplings I guess) from Melaka. Nyonya was complaining about her internet connections. Winn Winn was in her layang mode as usual. Sengkor was crappy and JL was lame... as usual :P. Chit chatted till cows come home.

Then we switched venue over to THE coffee place in Lowyat Plaza (yup, the third time I'm here now :P). Kenny have to go home and take care of his "wives" again, so he didn't follow us for second round. Over there we were so noisy and everyone were holding on to their cameras shooting here and there. At one point Angel got so excited that she spilled her ice blended java chips on Zeroimpact's shoe.

We talked and laughed and tongue twisted till the cows came home and fell asleep. Finally everyone said goodbye and left at about 12-ish. Before departing, Pink Cotton finally *censored* Sengkor. Hahaha...

First Time Tag

Aiyak... I kena dog-tagged by that blogging dog Ah Boy on some memorable first time incidents. I usually don't like tags, especially "cheong hei" ones, but luckily this is quite short, so I give face to Ah Boy lor. Actually Ah Boy tagged me 2 days ago liao when we chat in Yahoo Messenger, but "mana tau" after I sketched up the post, I found that Ah Boy have yet to post his version... until yesterday. :P

First blog posting
1/10/2005- On that day I was quite angry with a friend because he used me and put me "on the table" without warning. Naturally I got blamed for things that I never do. I was kind of pissed at that time and have nobody to talk to. So I decided to create a blog to vent my frustration. After that I tried to keep the blog at a low profile and only show it to some friends. Then realizing that more people might visit after I joined a blogger's meet, I've decided to take the juicy bits down and do a Reloaded version. :P

First time keeping long hair
In my uni days, I kept my hair for about 1.5 years without cutting it. Naturally it grew quite long. I've even gotten wolf whistle once after some fella saw me from behind. LOL...

First time botak
Right after that 1.5 years mentioned above, I shaved my head bald. I've even had a picture of before and after, but if I show you I'd probably have to kill you. :P (Actually, I think I've misplaced it... hahaha)

First airplane ride
When I'm 19, I was leaving home to a far away land to further my studies. After getting on the plane, I suddenly got emotional and almost burst into tears, but I just "tahan" only. :P

First job (part time)
My first official job (with EPF contribution) was after Form 5. Me and a few of my friends went to work for a space exhibition in Shah Alam. Some of you might know about this exhibition. And yes, I was one of the jokers who wear that funny white blue space uniform. :P

More Makan Makan

Early morning (actually not really that early... about 11-ish), Angel texted me if I wanna join them for lunch in SS2. So I said OK. After taking a shower and fed Mini, I left from the house.

When I reached One Noodle at about 1:15pm, I gave Angel a call and she said they are upstairs, so I went up to look for them. Managed to find Angel, Chen, Nyonya and May hiding in a corner. Then I proceed to order my food while the rest just started eating.

While I am eating my noodle (by the way, the noodle is nothing much to shout about. I think Dragon-i's are a tad better), I vaguely overheard Angel talking on the phone with some "ca" or something like that. So I thought might be Carcar (sorry I don't know Carcar is a she... LOL). A little later, this big burly mustache man came over to our table and intro-ed himself as Steve. So I asked him if he's Carcar, and everyone burst into laughter while Steve said "The last I've checked, I'm still a male". And then I was told that this is Cocka, and Carcar is a lady (oopsie, sorry :P... don't tell Carcar about this)

So we talked and talked until the cows come home. Past lunch hour, the whole place left us. It was nice of the staffs for not shoo-ing us from upstairs as they closed off the section.
A little while later, May got a call from home and has to leave. We bid her farewell and continued to yak away. By the time we realized, it was already 6+. May even SMSed Chen if she has arrived in Penang as she didn't know that Chen will be staying in KL for one more day. After exchanging a couple more stories, we decided to go to another place for dinner.

Cocka (by the way, he is a really nice chap in real life, very different from the image he potrays in his blog... LOL) suggested we have our dinner in Seapark, and he even drove us there with his car. So another makan session ensues and more stories were shared.

At about 9-ish, we bid each other farewell and went home.

Makan Makan

Today noon time, Liu Liu Angeliu and Sot Sot Sotong Chen drop by Klang. So naturally I became the driver + nawinnllgator to bring them around town.

First, I brought them to this pretty famous "pai kut p'ng" (pork rib rice) place in Klang for lunch. Had the famous pork ribs, pork meatballs, stir friend vege and some pork belly soup. (So Chen, don't say I only eat bakuteh all the time only :P)

After that I brought them to the so-called famous "Tanjung Harapan" without harapan (quoting Angel :P) to catch some sea breeze.

Finally we went to the Cendol Klang for some "chen"dol.

On an unrelated note, I finally managed to finish the very "cheong hei" Heroes of Might and Magic V game. With some cheat of course :P. But even with cheats enabled, it's still a very "cheong hei" game that drags on and on with the story line.

My mum said better not to have a human-like name, scared might offend some ppl who happens to have a similar/same name. :P Then my dad suggested 珍宝, which translates to Jumbo. I say if like that ah, should be called Mini la since it's a pretty small breed.

So I think tentatively we'll be calling her Mini/Minnie lah...

On a sidenote, since my friend Loctor Mayat's dog can have gwailou name Robert H Johnson, mine also can wot... It'll be called Mini Cooper... HAHAHAHAHA

Gained Weight

I guess probably it's because I'm switching jobs, so I don't have any more job related stress... I have actually gained about 2kg since I last weighed myself (about 2-3 months ago I think).

*Flashback*

When I was young, I am the "skinny one" in my family because I don't eat a lot. Most of the time I would be too preoccupied with things I'm doing and forgot about eating until my mum have to drag me to the dining room.

This changed around standard 4. Because I never buy food from canteen during recess (except for some snacks, while my classmates will be ordering noodles and stuffs), my mum actually packed sandwiches for me. Since she did that, I didn't want to waste her efforts so I finished whatever that's inside the lunch box. Thus during standard 4 and 5 I did "ballooned up" quite a bit.

Around standard 6, puberty kicks in I guess, and I grew tall and became slim again. And it was not until years later (Uni days) that I "ballooned" once more.

My all time best that I can remember is gaining 30 pounds (about 13+kg) within 3 months. That was in 1997. (Erm, am I supposed to be proud of that? LOL)

Was voice chatting with my younger sis earlier today using Skype... she told us that she just got a boyfriend. Then later my brother reminds me that I should try harder to get myself a girlfriend o_0"

What to do, getting a girlfriend is not like going to the market "beli sayur"... you think so easy one meh? Some more I'm just some 新丝萝卜皮, not easy to find someone to "adopt" me :P

Finally Tinted My Car

Yup the title says it all... after some procrastination, finally did the tinting for my car. Costs me 550 overall (ouch!). But didn't feel the difference today as whole day it was gloomy and rainy.

Jalan-jalan

Yesterday my friend told me that he wanted to "kidnap" me to Seremban to meet up with his friend after work. Since I don't have any plans, so I agreed to be "kidnapped".

When we reached the Seremban exits, my friend forgotten which exit he's supposed to take (as some of you would know, there's 3 exits around Seremban, first one being the Labu, second one is Port Dickson, and third one is Senawang). He said he vaguely recalled that his friend told him to take the exit after Labu. But in fact, we're supposed to take the Labu exit. So we waited for the friend to come over and guide us around.

We went to a place called Stanton's (something like that) to "yumcha". The place is kinda like an open air pub kinda thing. It was said that the place used to be a steel factory or something like that. After that the friend drove us around town jalan jalan.

Lame Jokes of the Liu Liu Gang

*from yesterday's meet up with the liu liu gang*

This one I heard before:

One fine day, the bee family, papa bee, mama bee, and junior bee went for a drive around the country side. Along the way, they saw a grasshopper hitching a hike. So papa bee being a kind chap stopped by to pick up the grasshopper before the continue the journey. After a while, the grasshopper noticed that the car's fuel line is nearing to E, so papa bee stopped over the roadside. Then papa bee proceed to go over to the petrol intake and piss in it. The grasshopper watch in surprise as papa bee starts back the car and the car actually is able to move!
So the bunch continued their journey, and soon enough, the fuel is nearly empty once more. This time, mama bee piss into the fuel tank and the car gets running again. Because the country road is really long and winding, after some while, the car again runs low on fuel. This time, of course, it's junior bee's turn to piss into the tank. And surely enough, the car gets going once more. The grasshopper is so excited at this finding and waits in anticipation for the next fuel up so that he can contribute his piss too.
After some while, as expected, the car runs low on fuel once more. So the grasshopper excitedly volunteers himself. But the bee family shakes their head and said no. The grasshopper is puzzled and asks why. Papa bee explains, "because your pee is not bee pee (BP, short for British Petroleum)".

Another one (this needs some illustration actually to be more funny):

An old man having Alzheimer was being warded into the recuperation facility. But it was so boring for him that he seeks the doctor and ask the doctor to discharge him. The doctor said, "You are not supposed to be discharged because your situation is quite serious". But the old man is quite persistent and the doctor has no choice. So the doctor have a thought about it and told the old man, "Well ok, if you really wants to get out of here, you'll have to show me that you can do this..." And the doctor holds up both his hands with index finger pointing at each other. Then from a distant position, he brings them together and makes both fingers meet.
The old man tried, but he missed. But he was determined to get out of the place, so he practised hard everyday. When he wakes up, before meals, after meals, in the shower, before sleep, he will be practising.
Finally after some time, he really got a hang of it and managed to make the 2 fingers meet. He quickly went to see the doctor and showed it to him. The doctor have no choice and said, "Very well, I will write a letter of approval for you to be discharged." The old man was so happy and started clapping his hands, but he's unable to make his palms meet. So he did not get the approval letter in the end.

Another 2 action based lame joke:

An Angel Whispered to Me (II)

Had a blast meeting up with Nyonya, Angel, May, JL, Kenny Ng, Moz Mon, and AppleGal today.

Today is a pretty happening day for me as I have got 2 meet up plans lined up. First I need to drop by a friend's place to drop a CD plus help out on some computer stuff. Then after that I'm meeting up with the liu liu gang for drinks and dinner.

So firstly, I left home at about 2pm to visit my good friend who just came back from honeymoon. I need to pass her the video clip which I took for her during her wedding. After that had a brief chat with her and her mum until close to 5pm.

After that, I shot over to SS2 to meet the liu liu gang at the "forgot d name" place that Angel specified. Once I reached and parked my car, I saw this colorful place called "Yippee Cup" which I believe should be the venue. I purposely walk by and try to peep inside to find some familiar faces but found none. So I tried calling Angel. She confirmed that is the place, so I guess they should be sitting somewhere inside, while at the same time JL spotted me outside the shop. So we walked in together. Seems like the shop has an inner entrance which separates the smoking from non-smoking section.

Once inside, we were greeted with Nyonya, Angel, May, and Kenny which I'm meeting for the first time. Then we sat down and proceeded to order some drinks. They were making fun of a drink named "Alien Nipple", and so I gave that drink a try. Overall it was ok, reminds me of calamansi drink (吉仔酸梅) because of the sour plum, but with a strong hint of green tea. JL was thoughtful to have bought us some famous karipap, but the staffs in the shop stopped us from eating and pointed us to the sign "No outside food/drink allowed". Bummer.

After a while, Moz and AppleGal arrived and joined us. After some chatting, someone complained of hunger, so we discussed on where to have our dinner and in the end concluded to try out Restoran Sri Siam. Kenny did not join us as he needs to go home to tend on his 3 "concubines"... :P

At the restaurant, we ordered Tom Yam soup, green curry chicken, kangkung sambal, mango kerabu, otak otak, and some fried fish cake. Before the foods arrive, we're already devouring the yummy karipaps that JL bought us. Overall the food was ok, but the Tom Yam soup tastes weird (May mentioned there's a hint of sour plum, which everyone agrees).

Sidenote: I just checked on the bill and realized that they charged us a dollar for some chilli that we asked for. Like that also can... o_0

Upon done with the food, we had some chit chats and JL was really shining with his lame funny remarks. Then suddenly everyone started to compete in lameness being funny, by telling all the jokes. I still remembers that Solar Power and Soya Bean quiz May and Angel said, as well as that Alzheimer joke by JL. JL was also being crowned as the master of lameness by May. LOL...

Whole night we were laughing out so loud that our laughter filled the whole restaurant. I almost used up all my energy laughing, luckily Nyonya handed out some Ritter Sports choc for us to replenish our energy... hahaha. Now my jaw is sore... ouch! :P

Once Upon A Time...

(If you're Hokkien, substitute the title with "Limpeh Ka Lu Kong"... hahaha)

There was this fella who was really crazy and passionate about computers. It all started when his parents bought his brother a 286 machine when he was in form 1. He started to spend a lot of time on the computer when his brother is not using it. At the same time, he loved to read his cousin's subscription of PC Magazine whenever possible.

As days go by, he grew more and more fond of computers. But, it is so hard to find a friend who could spend his passion, because most of his friends aren't very interested in it.

Until one day, he found out that his classmates, Andrew and Gan, are also very enthusiastic about computers. From there on they became good friends. The 3 of them are like the 3 musketeers in the class. Other classmates always wonder what gibberish are these 3 jokers discussing all the time.

At one time, the 3 of them saw a computer quiz on the papers where you enter as a group. The 3 of them are very enthusiastic to give it a try. Gan had some thoughts and suggested the group name Phangan ([Ph]ua+[An]drew+[Gan]).

*Fast forward to the internet era*

One day this fella was trying to register for some online membership thingy... and when he was prompted the username, he suddenly thought of the name "phangan". The rest is history...


PS: The above is a bit of story on the nickname I sometimes uses, and the meaning behind it. :D

PS2: No, at that time, we have no idea that there's a place in Thailand called Koh Phangan.

First Traffic Jam of 2007

Today while on my way to work, got caught in a super massive jam on the Sg Besi-Puchong highway. People who uses that road would know it's a very accident prone area, and once an accident happen, there's no where to escape. I got caught for a good 30 minutes. Oh, and yesterday I've started paying the freaking RM2.20 toll for the first time. Now instead of RM6.00 daily to work, it has became RM8.80 a day.
Boy, what a way to start the year. :P

Yup, I think Ah Boy don't wanna be left out of the action. You know, it's kinda like the movie Rush Hour... and the cast here would be Jacky Liucas Chan and Chris AhBoy Tucker :P

Brand New Year

Yup... it's the dawn of a brand new year already. Time really flies.

Yesterday went singing K with a bunch of ex-colleagues in Neway 1U. Realized I've been pretty outdated as of lately... many new songs I don't know how to sing. Really need to update myself liao :P

After that, we dropped by 1U's Countdown Party to join the crowd. Many crazy youngsters blasting away with canisters of spray confetti's and artificial snow. We keep trying to get out of the line of fire... hahaha.

Finally the clock struck 12 and fireworks starts firing away, but I guess 1U was a little overshadowed by the Curve as the other side started their fireworks about 10 seconds earlier but ended much later. :P

So, officially, I wish everyone...

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007!
